Negar Nahidian is an artist, graphic designer, calligrapher, and educator whose work is rooted in the beauty of Persian and Islamic tradition. Drawing from a lifelong love of intricate pattern, sacred geometry, and the flowing forms of Persian and Arabic script, her art moves fluidly between the classical and the contemporary — honoring ancient aesthetics while speaking in a distinctly modern visual language.
Negar holds a BA in Art Studio and an MFA in Arts & Visual Technology from George Mason University. Her digital printmaking work was published in Secrets of Award-Winning Digital Artists by Wiley, a testament to her early mastery of the intersection between technology and fine art.
Her calligraphy practice sits at the heart of everything she does. Trained under a master calligrapher, she approaches each stroke as an act of devotion — a discipline that demands stillness, breath, and presence. Through her work she invites viewers into a space where art and spirituality are inseparable.
Beyond calligraphy, Negar is drawn to the tactile world of mixed media — weaving thread, texture, and material into her compositions to create work that is as physical as it is visual. The interplay of ink and fiber, of the written and the woven, reflects her belief that art should engage all the senses.
As a design educator with over 25 years of experience, Negar brings that same depth of intention into the classroom. She teaches students not only the technical foundations of graphic design, but how to develop their own creative voice, think critically about their work, and carry professional standards into every project.
Through her studio, N2dezign, she takes on custom commissions for clients who appreciate the meaning and craftsmanship behind every piece.
